    Description

PR & Marketing Volunteer / Internship

Global Paint for Charity (GPC) is a top-rated 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Atlanta, GA, and recognized by Charity Navigator and Candid/GuideStar for excellence in environmental innovation and social impact.

Since 2010, GPC has recovered over 5 million gallons of surplus paint, diverted thousands of tons of waste from landfills, and distributed it to 44 countries, improving the homes, schools, and communities of more than 15 million people worldwide.

We believe that a simple coat of paint can change lives—bringing dignity, hope, and beauty to those who need it most while protecting our planet from hazardous waste.

This is your opportunity to apply your communications and marketing expertise toward something bigger: using color to change the world.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a PR & Marketing Volunteer (or Intern) to help tell GPC’s story, strengthen our public visibility, and expand awareness of our mission to new audiences. This individual will play a key role in both internal and external communications—crafting campaigns that inspire engagement, attract donors and volunteers, and celebrate the transformative power of paint.

The ideal candidate has experience or strong interest in public relations, nonprofit, or sports and entertainment marketing, and is eager to apply their creativity in a purpose-driven organization with global reach.

    Key Responsibilities

    Communications & Public Relations

    • Draft press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and blog articles.
    • Pitch stories and manage outreach to local and national media outlets.
    • Support event publicity and coordinate photography, speaking engagements, and appearances.
    • Develop a public relations plan that highlights GPC’s mission, impact, and global partnerships.

    Marketing & Brand Awareness

    • Create digital and print marketing materials to promote campaigns, paint drives, and community projects.
    • Assist in developing PSAs, donor outreach messages, and marketing collateral.
    • Design and implement marketing strategies to increase public engagement and brand recognition.
    • Contribute creative ideas to promote volunteer recruitment and partnerships.

    Community Engagement & Fundraising Support

    • Support donor relations by crafting personalized communications and thank-you letters.
    • Assist in researching and soliciting potential sponsors, partners, and major donors.
    • Help organize community events, outreach projects, and awareness campaigns.

    Research & Reporting

    • Conduct surveys and collect data to evaluate marketing effectiveness.
    • Contribute to the Annual Impact Report, summarizing results and success stories.

    Qualifications

    • Pursuing or holding a degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or related field.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
    • Knowledge of social media marketing, media relations, and storytelling.
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, and Mailchimp (or willingness to learn).
    • Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about sustainability and community empowerment.

Experience in nonprofit communications or event marketing is a plus.
