    Description

    Storm Drain Marking Program

We need pairs or groups of volunteers to mark drains with markers that say, "No Dumping, Drains to River" in Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo. Volunteers also place door hangers on residents doors to explain the purpose of this project.

You volunteer on your own time during daylight hours as long as it is not raining, and it is above 50 degrees (typically from late April to early October). Do you already walk around your neighborhood or workplace? We can see if those streets need to be marked to make it even more convenient!

The purpose of this project is to reduce storm water pollution by raising awareness that everything that goes down our storm drains goes to the Red River without being treated. Grass clippings, oil leaking from cars, and trash on the streets are all examples of potential stormwater pollutants.
