    Each shift is 3 hours. Our online calendar system will show available dates and shifts. All volunteers must schedule in advance. We do not allow walk-ins.

    Volunteers need to be able to stand during the shift, bend and follow directions so that products can be sorted properly. Age 17 and older must be able to work independently.

    Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

    Thank you for wanting to help in the fight against hunger in our community! SHFB distributes over 80 million pounds of food to our 950 non-profit agencies thru-out 14 counties in NC and 10 counties in SC. Volunteers are needed each year to help us inspect and sort food and grocery items so that it can be sent to our partner agencies including Soup Kitchens, Emergency Pantries, Homeless Shelters and Low-Income Daycare Centers. We could never provide all that we do to our agencies that feed our neighbors in need without our amazing volunteers!

    Sign up to volunteer online: www.secondharvestmetrolina.org Next click on "Give Time" Scroll down the page and click on Register to Volunteer. Our online calendar system will show all of our available opportunities and is the most efficient way to schedule volunteer time.

    Volunteers will be working in the warehouse so please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes.

    • Our set shifts are Tuesday thru Friday 9-12 or 1-4pm. Saturday 8:30 - 11:30am and 12:30 - 3:30pm. During our weekday shifts, all volunteers must be 17+ years of age.
    • Youth age 13-16 (SHFB min. age is 13) can volunteer on Saturday with an adult age 21+. Youth groups must have 1 adult per 4 youth. Saturdays do book up weeks in advance so please plan ahead.
