    Description

COLLEGE STUDENTS -Gain Patient Interaction Experience with Hospice at Independence Village Carmel

This volunteer opportunity is through CorsoCare Hospice & NOT the assisted living facility. Please contact Bob Hagopian, CorsoCare Hospice of Indiana Volunteer Coordinator via this Idealist link or at robert.hagopian@corsocare.com or (317) 607-1750.

Can you spare an hour for an elderly hospice patient? In return, you could gain invaluable patient interaction experience! CorsoCare Hospice is seeking compassionate, empathetic college students who are going into the medical, nursing or social work field who are willing to give their time and supportive presence by visiting hospice patients in facility settings and occasionally private homes.

Our volunteers share their time in many ways and may include reading to the patient, taking a walk, playing cards, watching TV, chatting or some other low-key activity the patient feels up to doing. Sometimes just sitting with them so they know they aren't alone is enough.

CorsoCare provides all PPE necessary to ensure a safe and enriching experience on every visit. You will also be provided ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout your service with us and will be invited to education opportunities and appreciation events.

If you have any questions, or need further information, please contact CorsoCare Hospice of Indiana Volunteer Coordinator Bob Hagopian at robert.hagopian@corsocare.com or call him at (317) 607-1750.

"Volunteers comfort with their presence. One does not need to know all the right words to say but the ability to just be present." -Gina Davis
