Role Summary
The Grant Writer / Development Volunteer plays a key role in helping the organization secure funding to sustain and expand survivor services. This position supports all aspects of grant research, proposal writing, donor communication, and fundraising development. Your work directly fuels emergency support, advocacy, housing pathways, resource programs, and long-term stability for survivors fleeing domestic violence.
Key Responsibilities
- Research local, state, federal, and foundation grant opportunities specifically supporting domestic violence services
- Draft, edit, and prepare grant proposals, LOIs, narratives, and organizational capacity statements
- Collaborate with leadership on budgets, program descriptions, and impact reporting
- Support donor stewardship, acknowledgments, and relationship-building
- Assist with annual fundraising plans, campaigns, and donor communications
- Maintain grant tracking, reporting deadlines, and compliance documentation
- Identify innovative funding options for housing, food security, trauma services, legal advocacy, and outreach
- Help build a sustainable development strategy for 2026–2028
Qualifications
- Grant writing experience OR strong professional writing background
- Ability to write clearly, persuasively, and with sensitivity to trauma-informed language
- Research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work with budgets and program data (training provided)
- Passion for supporting survivors and strengthening community safety
Commitment Details
A weekly commitment of 5–10 hours for 12 months, including writing, research, and proposal development.
