    Description

Companionship volunteers are needed to visit to the patients facing the end-of-life care. This program, with adequate training, allows volunteers to be matched one on one with a patient. Companionship care allows volunteers to showcase their skills to the patients like playing music, reciting poems, painting with them, reading or just be there for them and listening. The volunteers can also set their own schedule that is convenient for both parties. Typically, a volunteer would make a companionship visit 2-4 times monthly from approx. an hour to a couple of hours. Additionally, visits could involve helping the family by offering respite time as the family member runs errands or helping to prepare meals and also help with light housekeeping. Whether you are retired, a student needing volunteer hours, or just wanting to make a difference for others, this is an extremely meaningful and rewarding way to contribute to your community
