About ResistTrump
We coach activists to lead lawful, nonviolent civil resistance to Trump and his enablers. Through strategic campaigns, toolkits, and community organizing, we're building a movement to defend democracy and resist authoritarianism using proven nonviolent resistance methods.
Role Overview
We're seeking to add to our roster of organized People Coordinators to manage the full volunteer lifecycle from first contact through successful volunteer integration, growth, exit, and alumni network. You'll help manage our volunteer recruitment pipeline from first contact, ensuring every new activist has the support and resources they need to contribute meaningfully to our movement. This role combines operational tasks with genuine people skills: You'll be both an organizational coordinator and a “Campaign Buddy" who helps new volunteers find their footing in our organization.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Screening:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective volunteers, providing prompt and professional responses
- Create and post compelling job descriptions on Idealist
- Review and respond to Skills Survey submissions and Idealist applications in a timely manner
- Conduct initial screening conversations with applicants to assess fit, skills, and availability before passing qualified candidates to the hiring campaign member
- Actively recruit new volunteers as campaign needs arise
Onboarding & Integration:
- Guide new volunteers through our onboarding process, ensuring they understand our credo, vision, theory of change, values, and Code of Conduct
- Provide clear information about roles, expectations, and available resources
- Connect new volunteers with their teams and help them navigate organizational structure as well as provide education about #ResistTrump Campaigns’s mission and methods of achievement
- Ensure new volunteers have access to necessary tools (Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom) and materials
Ongoing Support & Retention:
- Conduct biweekly (every two weeks) one-on-one check-ins with new volunteers during their first months
- Track volunteer progress through training milestones and initial project assignments
- Identify and address support needs, questions, or concerns before they become barriers
- Maintain organized records of volunteer status, progress, and communication
- Monitor volunteer engagement and proactively reach out when someone seems disengaged
- Serve as an accessible, supportive resource who makes volunteers feel valued and connected to our campaign’s credo
Collaboration:
- Participate in weekly Organizing Team meetings on Tuesdays at 2PM CST
- Coordinate with the Director on recruitment needs and volunteer performance
- Maintain clear documentation and communication about the volunteer pipeline
