    About Cancer Support Community Arizona

    Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing no-cost support services for anyone impacted by cancer—including patients, survivors, family members, and caregivers. Our programs are designed to address the emotional, social, and physical needs that come with a cancer diagnosis. Services include support groups, healthy lifestyle programs, educational workshops, expressive arts, community connection activities, and resources—all offered in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility for all.

    Opportunity Description

    Cancer Support Community Arizona is seeking a passionate volunteer cooking instructor to lead engaging demonstrations and classes for individuals impacted by cancer. Participants may be in active treatment or recently entered survivorship. The focus is on creating a supportive, uplifting environment where food preparation becomes a tool for healing, wellness, and connection.

    Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver cooking demonstrations that are accessible and adaptable to participants’ varying needs.
    • Highlight healthy, nourishing, and budget-friendly meals that support overall wellness.
    • Provide tips and education on cooking techniques, meal preparation, and nutrition.
    • Collaborate with CSCAZ staff to ensure classes align with program goals.
    • Create a welcoming, compassionate, and engaging atmosphere for participants.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in cooking instruction, culinary arts, or nutrition (professional or volunteer-based).
    • Ability to adapt recipes and demonstrations for individuals with varying dietary needs or restrictions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Sensitivity and compassion for individuals navigating cancer treatment or survivorship.
    • Bilingual is a plus but not required

    Time Commitment

    • Classes are typically scheduled once per month or as arranged with CSCAZ staff.
    • Commitment length and schedule are flexible based on volunteer availability.
