    Marketing & Communications Director (Volunteer)

    nenos is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building a more ethical digital future through social connection and digital literacy. We’re developing a nonprofit, ad-free social media platform, and Digital Roots, a digital literacy education program focused on cybersecurity, media awareness, and tech-for-good learning.

    We’re a mission-driven startup run by passionate volunteers and we’re looking for someone equally motivated to lead our marketing and communications efforts.

    About the Role

    We’re seeking a volunteer Marketing & Communications Director to oversee our digital voice and creative presence. You’ll manage a small team of volunteers handling copywriting, publishing, and graphic design, ensuring that everything we publish aligns with our brand and vision.

    You’ll work closely with the CEO and to shape messaging, improve outreach, and grow public awareness of nenos and its offerings. This is a leadership-level, remote volunteer position ideal for someone who wants to give back through mission-aligned tech work.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and support volunteer writers, designers, and content creators
    • Coordinate copy and graphic asset production across channels (social, website, email, blog)
    • Refine and uphold brand guidelines, voice, and tone
    • Collaborate with leadership to develop campaign strategies and outreach goals
    • Schedule and oversee content publication (social media, newsletters, blog posts, etc.)
    • Support promotion of our Bloom Social beta and Digital Roots program
    • Track campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed

    Qualifications

    • Availability to volunteer and communicate in U.S. Eastern standard time
    • Experience in marketing, communications, branding, or content strategy
    • Comfortable managing volunteers and remote workflows
    • Strong writing and editing skills; design experience is a plus
    • Familiarity with tools like Canva, Buffer, Mailchimp, or similar platforms
    • Passion for ethical tech, social impact, and nonprofit storytelling
    • Organized, collaborative, and able to give kind, clear feedback
