    Description

    The NAMI Greater Boston Peer Support and Advocacy Network (PSAN) seeks outreach and development associates who will work closely with co-founder Howard D. Trachtman, BS, CPS, CPRP, COAPS, a nationally recognized mental health advocate and the executive director, Ewa Pytowska, CPS and who is also a board member of NAMI Massachusetts. We are always happy to talk to people about NAMI, the nation's largest grassroot advocacy organization.

    These are the various components of the position, you need not be expert in all areas.

    Mr. Trachtman is willing to mentor suitable candidates in peer support and/or advocacy.

    As almost all of our members identify as being in recovery from mental health and/or

    addictions the ideal candidate would being willing to disclose their personal experience with lived experience of severe trauma, mental health and/or addiction challenges.

    The main role is to go with us to other organizations to talk about recovery and the services offered

    by NAMI GB CAN PSAN and the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community (MBRLC) www.mbrlc.org

    Here are some of the activities that an Outreach and Development Associate could do:

    Visit in person or communicate with other organizations to promote NAMI and MBRLC

    Help staff information tables at conferences and events

    Communicate with existing NAMI members via phone, email and US mail

    Maintain database of members and verify accuracy of NAMI's database

    Recruit new members and renew lapsing members

    Provide peer support as needed

    Prepare for NAMI Walk in May and ongoing fund-raising

    Help support legislative advocacy

    Provide input on updating website

    Liaison with NAMI Boston Advisory Board and NAMI Massachusetts Board of directors

    Maintain NAMI literature and help distribute to community

    Help organize PSAN social events and OpeningDoorsToTheArts.org

    In Our Own Voice presenter or willing to take free training

    NAMI Connection group facilitator or willing to take free training

    Other duties as assigned by NAMI GB PSAN management
