    Description

Be a role model for a LaVergne Kid: Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters

Be the Mentor Who Makes a Difference

Volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee (BBBSMT)

What if just a few hours a month could change a life, including your own?

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, we’re looking for volunteers to become Bigs. A Big is a trusted mentor matched one-on-one with a Little, a young person between the ages of 6 and 22, who is looking for support, encouragement, and someone in their corner.

Whether you're grabbing coffee, hopping on a video call, or playing a board game, it’s the relationship that matters most.

Choose a Mentoring Option That Fits Your Life:

    • Community-Based Mentoring: Meet with your Little 2 to 4 times a month out in the community, like parks, coffee shops, museums, or wherever you enjoy spending time.
    • School-Based Mentoring: Visit your Little weekly during the school day for lunch, games, or conversation on campus.
    • Big Futures: A primarily virtual mentoring program for young people ages 15 to 22 that focuses on post-high school support, goal setting, college and career planning, and life skills.

You don’t need any special training or experience. Just be consistent, kind, and willing to show up.

    Who Can Be a Big?

    We welcome volunteers who are:

    • 18 or older
    • Living in Middle Tennessee
    • Able to commit to at least one year of mentoring
    • Passionate about making a positive impact

We especially encourage volunteers from all backgrounds!

    Why Mentor?

    • Empower a young person to reach their goals
    • Build a meaningful, lasting connection
    • Grow as a leader and mentor
    • Give back to your community in a personal and powerful way
