    Description

Faith Community Ambassador — Color It Blue

    What is Color It Blue?

Color It Blue is Brave Step’s annual campaign during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

It invites survivors, loved ones, allies and entire communities to create a ripple of influence — raising awareness, showing support and helping prevent sexual violence through simple, meaningful actions.

    Why it matters

Sexual violence touches every community including faith communities. People sitting in our pews, classrooms, small groups and prayer circles have been impacted, often silently.

Color It Blue helps faith communities:

    • acknowledge the reality with compassion
    • signal safety and support to survivors
    • start gentle, healthy conversations
    • reinforce prevention and education

Even small gestures can remind people: you are seen, you matter and you are not alone.

The good news: it’s easy to do

Color It Blue is intentionally simple and flexible. Each community chooses what fits its culture and comfort level. No big event required unless you want one.

Brave Step provides ready-to-use tools, guidance, and messaging. You simply lead the connection.

    Your Role: Faith Community Ambassador

    Purpose:

Introduce Color It Blue to your faith community and help them participate in a way that feels natural and supportive.

What you might do (choose 1–3 items — that’s it):

    • Talk with clergy or ministry staff about Color It Blue
    • Encourage congregants to wear or display blue one Saturday/Sunday or week
    • Request a bulletin mention, slide, or short announcement
    • Share a short prayer, reflection, or awareness moment
    • Set out a table with signs, ribbons, and Brave Step resources
    • Help connect anyone who asks with Brave Step for support or learning

    Time commitment:

About 2–4 hours total across the month — very flexible.

    We provide a digital toolkit:

    • talking points and email templates
    • printable signs and ribbons guidance
    • sample announcements and social posts
    • trauma-sensitive language tips

    Who this is great for:

People who care about survivors, are trusted in their faith community, and are comfortable starting kind, respectful conversations.
