Get Drawn In, Online: Virtual Anime Crew at Extreme Kids and Crew

Are you looking to share your special interests with the world? Are you excited by the chance to center and celebrate the experiences of neurodiverse children? Are you ready to make a difference and have a great time while doing it?

Whether you’re a student, professional, or just someone passionate about inclusion and fun, if the answer to any of the questions above is an enthusiastic yes, we’d love to have you on our team! Please consider joining Extreme Kids & Crew as a volunteer for our Weekly Club Programs.

Extreme Kids and Crew (EKC) is an organization that provides play spaces for neurodivergent youth and their families. These collaborative community spaces foster self-confidence and community development for young people often isolated from public spaces. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring individuals to support our programs for neurodivergent children and their families. Volunteers engage with the kids throughout the session while encouraging creativity, participation, and joy throughout our time together. This is a wonderful opportunity to build meaningful connections, be part of a supportive community, and directly impact the lives of amazing kids and families.

    ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Virtual Anime Crew (Hosted on Zoom)

    DESCRIPTION

Virtual Anime Crew uses the wide world of anime to encourage creativity, and imagination found in every young anime fan. This program is for youth ages 9–13 with a passion for anime and/or manga, drawing (or a strong desire to learn). No prior illustrating experience required. Each week, we will explore a different visual theme using short anime clips or manga pages. Then we practice through guided drawing time, using simple materials typically found at home. Activities are flexible and can be adapted so crew members can participate at their own pace. The program is led by EKC’s Program Manager for Library Services and Community Partnerships, Cristina Nava-Sosa, an life-long anime & manga enthusiast. participants will also meet guest artists who introduce different styles and creative approaches.
