All volunteers start off at the information desk and are required to complete 100 hours of service prior to transferring to a patient care floor volunteer position.
Step 2: Submit Application
To apply please visit the AHS website AlamedaHealthSystem.org then click Volunteers on the banner at the top of the page.
Step 3: Interview
We will contact you to setup an interview within a week or two.
Step 4: Orientation
If accepted, you will be invited to attend an orientation covering both hospital and Volunteer Department policies, procedures, and other important information.
Step 5: Health Screening
After the orientation you will be able to make an appointment with AHS Employee Health. Volunteers are required to provide proof of immunity by immunization record or by titer(s) - blood tests for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (chicken-pox). Additionally volunteers are required to show documentation of a tuberculosis skin test (TST) performed elsewhere within the past 12 months and 1 within the past 3 months. AHS Employee Health can provide the second TB test for free.
