Dallas Pets Alive is seeking a passionate and dependable Volunteer Photographer to join our Marketing and Community Engagement team. Photography plays a critical role in helping our animals get adopted. A single compelling photo can tell a story, spark an emotional connection, and change a life.

In this role, you’ll capture high-quality images at adoption events, at the DPA Adoption Container, and occasionally in foster homes to showcase adoptable pets. Whether you use a professional DSLR or a high-quality smartphone, your images will help increase visibility and adoption interest for animals in our care. If you have an eye for lighting, love capturing candid moments, and believe every pet deserves their best shot at a forever home, we’d love to hear from you.

Team: Marketing and Community Engagement

Location: In Person - DFW Metroplex area.

Time Commitment: Ideal commitment of 1 project or 1–3 events per month.

Each event typically requires 1–3 hours onsite, plus light editing time.

Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation.

Reports to: Marketing Director

Works with: Social Media Manager, Marketing Director and Community Engagement Manager

Position Responsibilities:

• Photograph HSDC adoption events, DPA Adoption Container events and Dogs Matter community events.
• Capture high-quality, engaging photos of adoptable pets in foster homes (as scheduled)
• Provide lightly edited, high-resolution images within agreed turnaround time
• Capture a mix of:
  • Individual pet portraits
  • Candid interaction shots
  • Event atmosphere and community engagement
• Ensure animals are photographed safely and comfortably
• Follow DPA brand guidelines and photography standards
• Upload images to shared drive in organized folders

Skills and Qualifications best suited for this position:

• Experience with DSLR, mirrorless camera, or high-quality smartphone photography
• Basic editing skills (Lightroom, Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools)
• Ability to work in dynamic event environments
• Strong eye for composition, lighting, and storytelling
• Comfortable photographing animals of various sizes and temperaments
• Reliable transportation to events in the Dallas area
• Ability to meet agreed deadlines for image delivery
• Embrace HSDC, Dogs Matter, and DPA mission and values
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Professional experience is welcome but not required. Passion, reliability, and a strong visual eye are most important.
