    Description

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Hours: 5–8 hrs/week

    Commitment: 12 months (renewable)

    Role Summary

    The Director of Strategic Development leads long-range planning, growth strategy, and sustainability efforts for the organization. This role ensures that all expansion—programmatic, financial, and structural—is rooted in survivor safety, trauma-informed principles, and organizational integrity. They help position the nonprofit for future multi-site programming, deeper community partnerships, and long-term impact in the domestic violence field.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and oversee long-term strategic plans for survivor services, housing, outreach, and community programs
    • Identify growth opportunities, funding pathways, and emerging needs in the domestic violence sector
    • Support the Executive Director with major organizational decisions, planning, and new initiatives
    • Lead the grant writer, fundraising team, and partnership teams to ensure alignment
    • Evaluate current policies, MOU structures, and programming for sustainability
    • Conduct environmental scans of the Southland region and national best-practice DV models
    • Provide strategic oversight of budgets, proposals, and program development
    • Ensure that every step forward is trauma-informed, ethical, and survivor-centered
    • Assist with positioning the organization for 2026–2028 expansion goals

    Qualifications

    • Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, nonprofit expansion, or program design
    • Strong understanding of domestic violence dynamics, survivor needs, and confidentiality standards
    • Excellent project management, leadership, and collaborative skills
    • Ability to think long-term, build systems, and assess organizational readiness
    • Grant writing or fundraising strategy experience a plus

    A weekly commitment of 5–8 hours for at least 12 months, including meetings, strategy sessions, and planning oversight.
