    Recruiter for Solano Symphony Board

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Board Recruiting Chairperson leads the efforts to identify, attract, and onboard new board and committee members for the Solano Symphony Orchestra. This role combines strategic coordination with hands-on community engagement—maintaining recruiting materials, ensuring accurate records of board membership and terms, and developing outreach content across print and digital platforms. As an active voting member of the Board, the Chairperson reports on recruiting progress, collaborates closely with the Nominating Committee, and builds connections through local colleges, volunteer networks, and community events. The position calls for strong communication and organizational skills, leadership in delegation, and a genuine enthusiasm for promoting the orchestra’s mission and volunteer opportunities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    The following duties are typical of those performed or delegated by the individual in this position; however, this individual may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed will be performed by each individual in this position.

    1. Attend all General Board of Directors meetings
      1. Prepare an update for the Board on the activities of the Recruiting Committee
      2. Participate in meetings as a voting member
    2. Maintain recruiting documentation (in conjunction with Board Secretary)
      1. Organization Structure
      2. Job descriptions
      3. List of members and all board committees
      4. List of Board of Directors term expiration dates
      5. Develop and coordinate recruiting content (printed, website, social media)
    3. Actively recruit to fill open positions
      1. Serve as member of the Nominating Committee
      2. Reach out to volunteer sites – e.g. Volunteer Match
      3. Reach out to local colleges for volunteers and/or interns
      4. Reach out at concert and fundraising events for volunteers
      5. Reach out to orchestra members for volunteers
      6. Reach out to the local community for volunteers
      7. Recruit professional services as required
      8. Delegate tasks to available committee members

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Good planning and organization skills
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL, email

    TALENT – LEADERSHIP SKILLS

    • Ability to coordinate tasks among committee members and other Board members as

    required

    • Ability to promote the virtues of becoming a member of the Board or committee

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Ability to report-out at General Board Meetings
    • Ability to meet with committee members
    • Must be able to sit, stand for up to one hour, bend and lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently

    PREREQUISITE BACKGROUND

    • Experience as a board member, orchestra member or arts patron preferred
    • Willingness to commit to the Mission Statement and Bylaws Solano Community Symphony Association (SCSA) dba Solano Symphony Orchestra
