Volunteer Success Mentor

Position Overview:

Needpedia seeks to empower people all over the world, and thus far has done exceedingly well at attracting volunteer devs, however, we still haven’t learned how to effectively organize them. We’ve been using a personalized onboarding approach where we ask volunteers what their interests are, then identify work we need help with, and assign a task that they seem to be happy with. But then, in isolation, they just give up before producing anything or interacting with anyone, and leave us right back where we started, (in terms of building community. -Software development’s been going fine, Needpedia itself is almost done. Now we need to create a community of volunteer devs to support each other and our users as they share tech related ideas for the world, which will require volunteer dev’s feedback and support when we finally go public).

We're on the lookout for a Volunteer Success Mentor, someone who's passionate about guiding and supporting volunteers through their journey with Needpedia.org. This role is ideal for individuals who have a knack for mentorship, enjoy sharing knowledge, and can provide the encouragement and advice our volunteers need to thrive.

Responsibilities:

• Offer one-on-one mentorship to new and existing volunteers, helping them navigate challenges and celebrate successes.
• Create resources and guides to assist volunteers in their projects.
• Act as a liaison between volunteers and the development team to ensure feedback and ideas are heard and acted upon.
• Monitor volunteer progress and provide constructive feedback and recognition.
• Help develop a supportive and inclusive culture that encourages long-term commitment.

Qualifications:

• Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
• Ability to motivate others and foster a positive, productive environment.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple mentorship relationships.
• Experience in volunteer management or a related field is a plus.
• Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by volunteers in a tech-driven project.
