The Great Marshmallow Drop - a Large Community Event!

Description
Join Oakland County Parks for this enormous, exciting, free community event to kick off our spring season. A low flying helicopter will drop 15,000 marshmallows which kids will collect and turn in for a prize.
We are in need 120 volunteers to help make this fun event safe for families in our community. Volunteers will assist event staff with:
- Chute Assistance - Direct people to the proper chute and guide people onto the field
- Marshmallow Marshalls - Keep people in the safe zone until the marshmallows are dropped
- Prize Tent Volunteers - Hand out goodie bags to kids
- Boundary Volunteers - Keep people out of the flight zone and interact with the public
Special events like this provide a safe, fun opportunity for our community members to come together and create lasting memories. Oakland County Parks and Recreation strives to provide superior, inclusive programming for all ages. In order to become a volunteer with Oakland County Parks, please follow these instructions:
1.Fill out the proper application (adult or minor).
- Adult (18+) application: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/1416992479
- Minors age 17 and under, please have a parent or guardian fill this form out using your name: https://www.volgistics.com/appform/718922892
- Minors under 14 must fill out the Minor Waiver and be accompanied/chaperoned by an adult who has a valid Adult application, waiver and background check on file.
2.Complete and pass a background check (adults 18+ only). This will be texted/emailed at time of application.
Our Parks Commission has directed us to perform background checks that include a search of these 3 areas:
- Nationwide Criminal Database
- Social Security Address Trace
- Nationwide Sex Offender Registry
This step is intended to provide for the safety and security of Park patrons, other volunteers and staff at our recreation programs and operations. Please note: you will be invited to complete this via email and/or text and the link expires after 5 days. Please reply to have a new link sent if you miss the deadline.
