    Description

Interested in supporting a teen in completing a service project in their community? Become a Capstone Project Advisor to support our participants in completing a service project in their community.

Overview of the Role: Capstone Project Advisors work one-on-one with Capstone campers as

they complete community-based service projects. Project Advisors guide their assigned

campers through each stage of the project including planning, problem-solving, implementation

and final presentation to ensure they feel supported and set up for success. This is a remote

volunteer position. Project Advisors are also supported by a Capstone Program Coordinator,

who helps keep the process on track and ensures that all deadlines are met.

About ATS: A Thousand Summers removes barriers to life-changing summer camp

experiences for families who can't afford them, partnering with high quality camps to support

    underserved youth nationwide.

Capstone Program Description: The Capstone Program is ATS’s leadership and service

program for teenagers. Through the program, campers design and complete a

community-based service project. In order to support them in this process, campers attend

monthly Capstone Meeting calls where they plan out and receive feedback on their projects.

This culminates in the Capstone Presentation in early spring where campers present their

    completed projects to the group.

Volunteer Commitment Required: Averaging about 5 hours per month from mid-October to mid-May. Capstone Project Advisors are assigned to 1 camper.

    This position is entirely virtual.

    Volunteer Requirements:

    • Successful completion of the ATS Volunteer Application
    • Youth Development and Project Advising experience
    • Ability to pass a background check and provide non-family references
