    Public Health Volunteer Program

    St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation initiative dedicated to improving public health in underserved schools and communities. Our mission is to create lasting positive changes in the lives of individuals by addressing vital health needs.

    Objectives:

    1. Conduct comprehensive health assessments in underserved rural communities.
    2. Work collaboratively with SMWEF public health nurses to check vital statistics, malaria, BMI, blood pressure, and provide basic medical treatments.
    3. Empower community members with health education, preventive measures, and resources for improved well-being.

    Project Activities:

    Health Assessments: Conduct thorough health assessments to identify key health indicators and prevalent conditions in deprived schools and communities.

    Vital Stats Checks: Work alongside SMWEF public health nurses to measure and record vital statistics, BMI, and blood pressure for individuals in need.

    Malaria Screening: Conduct malaria screenings and provide immediate assistance to those affected. Distribute bed nets and educate communities on preventive measures.

    Treatment of Wounds: Assist in the treatment of wounds and minor injuries, ensuring proper care and preventing infections.

    Health Education Workshops: Organize interactive health education workshops to empower communities with knowledge about preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle choices.

    St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation prioritizes the safety and well-being of our participants. We adhere to stringent health and safety protocols to ensure a secure environment at placement sites, accommodations, and throughout the program duration. Our dedicated staff provides 24/7 support and assistance to address any concerns or emergencies.

    Scrubs Requirement:

    Interns are required to bring along 3 sets of scrubs for their outreach programs. These scrubs will be used during their clinical duties at the placement and are essential for maintaining hygiene standards.

    How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    Volunteers on this program must be 18 years and above on the program start date and duration.

    Volunteers on this program must be fluent in English to be able to communicate with the local people and must come along with bundle of energy.

    Volunteers on this program must have at least a high school educational background.

    No prior requirement is required for this program but medical placement volunteers must have relevant medical training and certification.

    Volunteers must be able to adapt to the environment and be flexible to learn and experience the culture in Ghana.

      2. Upon acceptance of application by SMWEF, volunteers must pay a program deposit to the organization to secure placement.
