Journey Together Service Dog is looking for indivituals interested in socializing our dogs in training to be service dogs. Because our dogs spend the majority of their time being raised by inmates at Oshkosh Correctional Institution, there are many things they would not experience without the help of our community volunteers.
A Journey volunteer receives training on how to handle the dogs in public settings like stores, children's events, restaurants, public library and more. The dogs need the opportunity to experience as many sights and sounds as we can offer them. This exposure is essential for the dog to grow up and become a confident partner for a disabled individual.
Volunteers set their own hours and let us know when they are able to work with a dog. We have many families who have worked together to help socialize the dogs. Some people only take dogs on public outings, others decide they want to also open their home as more exposure opportunities for the dogs. The options are endless
You provide the love, we provide the puppy.
