Denver Public Schools Spellbinders Storytellers are a vibrant group of volunteers who bring stories to life in classrooms across the district. Using the art of oral storytelling, Spellbinders foster imagination, strengthen literacy, and build meaningful connections between generations and cultures.
Were you a theater kid? Do you love telling stories to your kids or grandkids? Or just love the magic of oral storytelling? This could be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Each volunteer visits the same classroom each month to share a 20–40 minute storytelling session (based on age and classroom needs). Storytellers receive training and ongoing support in the art of storytelling—no experience required, just a love of stories and connection!
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, languages, and life experiences. Your unique voice and perspective help our students see themselves reflected in the stories they hear.
