As Core Design Lead, you will guide the visual and experiential consistency of our digital tools and resources, ensuring all assets meet our evolving standards and empower the programs we run for emerging adults.
This is a hands-on, tactical execution leadership opportunity for a skilled design professional passionate about UI/UX design, systems thinking, and collaboration. You’ll report directly to the Director of Technology & Innovation and collaborate closely with other subcommittee leads.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and evolve Empowered Futures’ digital design systems across platforms (EF Website, Let’s Go, EF Connect).
- Lead and support contributors, including UX researchers, graphic designers, and system designers.
- Translate project briefs and feedback into execution-ready design tasks and mockups.
- Ensure visual and UX alignment across all user-facing tools, with particular attention to accessibility and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with the Product Development and Core Technology & Services leads to align design implementation with technical feasibility.
- Manage design-related assets, documentation, and collaborative workflows (e.g., Figma, design libraries).
- Contribute to the testing and iteration process through UI prototypes and user feedback loops.
- Attend monthly committee syncs and provide visual updates to the Director of Technology & Innovation.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in digital product design, UI/UX, or design systems
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, Digital Media, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio may be considered in place of formal education
- Proficient in Figma or similar tools for collaborative design and documentation
- Strong understanding of accessibility principles and responsive design best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage design libraries and assets
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced or volunteer-led environment is a strong asset
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, volunteer-based organization
- Passionate about youth empowerment, mentorship, and sustainable organizational development
- Attend weekly/monthly EF meetings as scheduled
