AFK Cafe is a consent-based, online community focused on creativity, connection, and sustainable participation. We’re looking for Moderator Assistants—active, mod-adjacent helpers who support moderators but do not hold full moderation authority.
This role is ideal for people who want to work closely with moderators, help keep systems and events running smoothly, and contribute consistently—without being solely responsible for enforcement or decision-making.
Some Moderator Assistants are intentionally training to become moderators. Others want to assist without taking on full moderator responsibility. Both paths are valid and respected.
How We Work Together
AFK Cafe operates as a collaborative team, not a collection of isolated roles. Moderator Assistants are part of the moderation ecosystem and work in coordination with moderators, not independently.
You do not need to be socially dominant or “always on,” but you do need to be communicative, reliable, and willing to collaborate. Some assistants are more event-facing; others are more operational. Both are welcome.
I am a community-oriented admin and welcome growth. If you are interested in eventually becoming a moderator—or in developing specific skills—please let us know. We’re open to shaping this role thoughtfully where possible.
Once accepted onto the team, Moderator Assistants complete a personality and work-style assessment. This is not a test you can fail. It helps us understand communication styles, team flow, and how to best support you—so burnout is prevented rather than created.
We are a team. We support one another. Perfection is not required.
