    Description

    Wilder’s Meals on Wheels provides affordable, nutritious frozen meals to older adults and individuals with limited mobility living in Midway, Frogtown and the surrounding neighborhoods of Saint Paul in partnership with Metro Meals on Wheels. Join us to support the well-being and food security of your neighbors! Volunteer on a weekly basis to help with Meals on Wheels office support and client intake calls. This is a great opportunity to build job skills in a nonprofit office environment or share your organizational skills while supporting our day-to-day operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review orientation and training materials for new volunteers.
    • Complete recipient intake:
      • Talk with prospective recipients via phone for intake and complete a form.
      • Assemble welcome packets for new recipients with handwritten welcome cards, brochures, and resource packets.
      • Create file folders for new recipients.
    • File recipient paperwork and forms.
    • Stuff bags and prepare client resources.
    • There may be the opportunity to help pack meals and do inventory if office work is slow.
    • Assist with receiving the Open Arms meal delivery, if needed.
    • Additional administrative and office duties as time allows and assigned based upon the volunteer’s specific skills and interests.

    Qualifications:

    • Be 18 years of age or older.
    • Comfort talking with recipients via phone and completing an intake form.
    • Have strong customer service skills.
    • Have strong attention to detail.
    • Able to speak multiple languages is helpful but not required.
    • Be highly respectful of confidentiality.
    • Be dependable and committed to attending a weekly shift.
    • Able to work independently.
    • Have patience and compassion when interacting with recipients, staff and fellow volunteers.
    • Experience working or volunteering in aging services is helpful but not required.
    • Complete a background check (Wilder covers the cost).

    Schedule and Location:

    • Total time requirement: Minimum 3-month commitment to this weekly role
    • Day of the week: Monday-Friday (pick the day that works best)
    • Time of the day: Two-hour shift between 9:00am-1:00pm
    • Site: Wilder Meals on Wheels at 941 Lafond Ave., St. Paul, MN 55104
