Our mission is to make fresh produce more accessible to food charities by streamlining food donations, reducing waste, and connecting donors with communities in need through innovative technology solutions.

    Position Overview

    Foodsavers Corp. is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Grant Writing & Fundraising Assistant to help secure seed funding and advance our mission. This volunteer will play a critical role in identifying funding opportunities, drafting grant proposals, and supporting fundraising campaigns that expand our impact across Connecticut and beyond.

    This role is ideal for individuals interested in nonprofit management, public health, sustainability, or social impact—especially those looking to gain hands-on experience in development and fundraising strategy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research and identify local, state, federal, and private grant opportunities aligned with Foodsavers Corp.’s mission and programs.
    • Assist with drafting, editing, and submitting grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to funders.
    • Support the development team in tracking deadlines, application materials, and submission statuses.
    • Help design and implement fundraising strategies, including donor outreach and digital campaigns.
    • Maintain and update a database of grant opportunities and donor prospects.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop storytelling materials that highlight Foodsavers Corp.’s impact.

    Qualifications

    • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
    • Interest or background in nonprofit development, communications, or public health.
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Prior experience in grant writing or fundraising is a plus, but not required.
