    Description

    Cat Herder (Event Coordinator)

You can make a difference for cats and their people

EveryCat Health Foundation funds innovative feline health studies and essential education that enhances the relationship between cats and humans. We seek a dynamic Cat Herder (Events Coordinator) for our Outreach and Education program to join our passionate team of changemakers in a volunteer role (2-4 hours per week). This is a hybrid between volunteer coordinator and events coordinator.

EveryCat’s Outreach Volunteers (the AdvoCats) share important findings, trends and developments with the entire catloving community, from veterinary medical and related professionals to feline care-givers, promoting the health and welfare of every cat, every day. Volunteers attend cat shows, pet expos, conventions, veterinary conferences or symposia and community events. They share our mission and vision, as well as provide event attendees with information, resources and brochures as well as answer FAQs. Plus, event volunteers get to have fun sharing their love of cats. With enthusiasm and dedication that positively impacts event participants, along with games and swag, volunteers engage cat lovers of all ages.

Key duties in this role include managing volunteer participation at events. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational and communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. In addition, comfort working in a collaborative, remote environment is important to a positive experience for our volunteers and efficient operation of volunteer programs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend a monthly meeting with the Cat Herding team.
    • Understand requirements for each event.
    • Maintain and manage volunteer participation at events.
    • Follow up with volunteers, adjust schedules as needed.
    • Monitor calendars and deadlines for events.
    • Ensure updates are communicated clearly.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Prior experience as a volunteer coordinator or event coordinator is helpful but not required.
    • Proven ability to guide teams towards successful outcomes.
    • Track record of meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
    • Enthusiasm for outreach and relationship-building.
    • Comfortable with accountability and ensuring team commitments are met.
    • Technological skills, including familiarity with Google applications (docs, sheets, slides, etc) or similar Microsoft applications (word, excel, powerpoint).
    • Passion for the EveryCat Health Foundation mission and commitment to making a positive impact on every cat, every day, everywhere.

Training provided includes two 45 minute videos: An overview of EveryCat’s volunteer program and an overview of attending an event for EveryCat.

    Perks:

    • The joy of being part of a team that makes a difference in the lives of cats and the people who love them.
    • A chance to use your leadership and coordination skills.
    • Being part of a flourishing, inclusive, and cat-loving volunteer community.
