    About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability. Through mentorship, literacy development, social-emotional learning, creative expression, and storytelling, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people are seen, respected, and valued.

Behind every strong story is a well-run editorial process. PromisePress relies on thoughtful coordination to move stories from draft to publication with clarity, care, and consistency.

    Purpose of the Role

The Editorial Operations Coordinator ensures that MAP’s editorial workflows run smoothly and on schedule. This role focuses on coordination, tracking, and communication—supporting writers, editors, illustrators, and leadership by keeping projects organized, timelines clear, and handoffs seamless.

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Comfort managing multiple workflows and stakeholders
    • Clear written communication and follow-through
    • Familiarity with collaborative tools (Google Drive, Google Docs, spreadsheets)
    • Sensitivity to trauma-informed, youth-centered, and mission-driven work

    Bonus (Not Required)

    • Experience in editorial, publishing, or media operations
    • Familiarity with project management tools (Airtable, Asana, Notion, etc.)
    • Experience coordinating volunteer or creative teams
    • Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred)

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Remote collaboration with optional NYC-based participation
