Web Design & Squarespace Specialist Pro-Bono Professional Volunteer (up to 6-Month Commitment)

EcoSwell is a fast-growing nonprofit organization based in Lobitos, Peru that is involved in the sustainable development of vulnerable coastal communities. The projects we carry out align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, addressing challenges in renewable energy, reforestation, water & sanitation, archaeology, eco-tourism and public health.

Role Overview:

EcoSwell is seeking an experienced pro bono web designer and Squarespace specialist (at least 5 years) to lead the transition of our website from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1. In doing so, the role will also involve redesigning our website to offer a more engaging and user friendly experience, while leading the EcoSwell team and volunteer interns through the entire transition and redesign process.

As our new website designer, you will therefore lead the project of shaping the look, feel, and functionality of our website to attract more volunteer applications, boost donations, and deepen visitor engagement. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your creativity to a project that will ultimately leave a meaningful impact on coastal communities in Peru.

What You will Be Doing:

• Rebuild the website from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1.
• Redesign the website, including footers, headers, layouts, and fonts for a modern, interactive and mobile-friendly experience.
• Integrate interactive features (e.g., scroll/hover animations, interactive volunteer-interest quizzes, donation-tier visualizations, impact dashboards, and testimonial carousels).
• Streamline navigation and application funnels, embed “day-in-the-life” content, and integrate pop-up CTAs to guide users.
• Collaborate with the EcoSwell communications team, directors, and interns in adding photos, videos, testimonials and coordinating overall site content.
• Provide clear documentation and a short training session for EcoSwell staff to maintain the new site.
