    Description

Peace Through Action® USA is pleased to announce volunteer opportunities for people who want to do something to increase peace in their relationships and communities, and our country.

We invite you to consider the director opportunity. Directors contribute to the strategic direction, promotion, resourcing, and oversight of Peace Through Action® USA as members of our governing body.

Our board of directors is a governing body, not a “working board.” Directors engage in strategic thinking, oversight and monitoring, and resources connecting. Directors serve initial two-year terms with the possibility of serving subsequent terms. The board of directors meets quarterly and convenes remotely.

We welcome everyone who desires greater peace to volunteer with us. People in every part of the country can volunteer with us, as our opportunities are not restricted by area.

We encourage alums of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service programs, U.S. veterans, and people with public service experience to continue their service as a Peace Through Action® USA volunteer.

We wish to augment and diversify our board of directors. We encourage people with lived experiences as survivors of violence and residents of communities at increased risk of violence to apply. Also, we encourage applications from people who belong to identity groups that have been historically underrepresented in social sector organization governance, such as people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people with a youth or young adult perspective, people with disabilities, people from rural and Tribal areas, people experiencing or having experienced poverty, neighbors returning from incarceration, and newly arrived neighbors.

This is an exciting moment in our organization’s life to join our leadership body. We are entering our second decade of mission service, with stable funding for core operations and an ambitious plan and programs to activate many volunteers for peacebuilding in their relationships and communities.
