    Description

    Pet Therapy

Interacting with a friendly animal has the power to rekindle happy memories of beloved pets and provide joy and comfort, especially to those dealing with a life-limiting condition. Pet therapy sessions are casual interactions of specifically trained volunteer/animal teams with a patient for comfort or recreation. Those interested must be a trained handler and have a Pet Therapy certified dog registered with a recognized Pet Therapy organization that provides insurance. Pet Therapy certification training is not provided by HMH.

Hackensack Meridian Hospice serves patients wherever they call home in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Union Counties. Visits are typically 1-2 hours once a week based on your schedule within a manageable commute. Volunteers are provided a thorough orientation free of charge. COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are required. For more information, contact Hospice.Volunteer@HMHN.org.
