    Description

Home Free, our domestic violence prevention program provides survivor centered support designed to prevent people from having to return to abusive homes. Services include a crisis line, housing, intensive case management, restraining order advocacy, support groups, and systems navigation, along with ongoing support. Our volunteers answer the hotline or help survivors with restraining orders. Both positions provide resources and safety planning.

Volunteering with Home Free Is very rewarding and requires a large commitment. You attend 50 hours of training, 40 of which can be done online. Portions of the training are local. The training contains information on the cycle of domestic violence, safety planning, advocacy, community resources and restraining order instructions. Due to the investment in up-front training, we request a 12-month commitment to volunteering once per week for 3-4 hours.

Currently Hotline volunteers are working remotely. Though hotline work can be done remotely, You will need to live in the area to use one of our computers and complete your training. The Restraining Order Room Advocates volunteers are located at the Multnomah County Courthouse.
