    Description

Interested in making a positive impact on your community that will last years? Sign-up to join the KIB team to plant 100 native trees and add to the urban tree canopy in the Fountain Square neighborhood! With your help, the trees we plant will bring the benefits of cleaner air, carbon mitigation, and stormwater retention to Indianapolis communities. The tree planting demonstration will begin at 9:05am the latest, please be sure to arrive to find parking ahead of the start time to ensure you learn how to properly plant a tree.

Are you new to planting trees or do you need a refresher? Check out this great video on How to Plant a Tree!

Safety: We highly recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. We always recommend bringing a reusable water bottle but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide tools and gloves.

Parking and Facilities: Please park along the street upon arrival. We will meet at Harlan Triangle GreenSpace. If you use the address 2102 Orange St. for directions, it will guide you to the church located next to the GreenSpace. A portable will be available on-site.

Neighborhood: Fountain Square is one of Indianapolis’s oldest neighborhoods, established in the late 1800s around the central fountain that gave the area its name. It became home to immigrant and working-class families and later grew into a major entertainment district. Today, it is known for its arts, music, local businesses, and strong community pride. Prospect Falls is a part of the broader Fountain Square area, southeast of downtown and falls withing or adjacent to the Fountain Square Cultural District.

Fun Fact: The neighborhood is named after a real fountain that once served as a shared water source for residents and horses.
