    ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: C.A.R.E. Wellness Center & Services

    C.A.R.E. Wellness Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity with a mission of providing a safe farm stay, holistic retreat, and wellness programs for BIPOC community and allies for equality. Its programs are focused on persons of color and work with vulnerable populations such as BIPOC with justice-involvement, foster youth, and those suffering mental health challenges. The person in this role must be sensitive to these populations and center their duties on wellness.

    Our Mission is to provide a safe farm stay, holistic retreat, and wellness programs for black, indigenous, people of color and allies, to recover from Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome via Spirituality, AgroTourism, and Racial Justice.

    Our Vision is Connectivity: to Nature; to God; and to Self. Our goal of acquiring farmland is to establish a safe spiritual retreat for people of color to escape constant trauma and begin repairing their fractured foundation and realize self-actualization. Our programs are a research community project with a goal of empowering others to heal from PTSS.

    The Founder, Chair, and CEO is a woman of color, Pansexual, and person with disabilities fully committed to the growth of both C.A.R.E. Wellness Center (nonprofit) and C.A.R.E. Family Services, LLC (for-profit), also doing direct services for children and youth. We highly encourage an ethical, organized, and ambitious student or seasoned professional to help support the foundation of this new and unique nonprofit for the community. This is a home-based office welcoming volunteers, guests, and visitors for meetings while fundraising for farmland to headquarter wellness programs.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    We have contracted a Bookkeeper and Grant Writer available to help C.A.R.E. achieve funding and growth. However, there is a need for an experienced CFO to lead with planning, mapping, and organizing financial controls, Procedures, and our use of Quickbooks. The CFO will work to execute the plans of the Board of Directors and support the Founder/CEO, who is a woman of color, pansexual, and person with disabilities fully committed to the growth of both C.A.R.E. Wellness Center (nonprofit) and C.A.R.E. Family Services, LLC (for-profit), also doing direct services for children and youth. We highly encourage an ethical, organized, and ambitious student or experienced accountant to help support the foundation of this new and unique nonprofit.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic volunteer who has a background in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance to secure our financial systems and begin operations that ensure we remain within compliance, research capacity building opportunities, grant opportunities, cultivate relationships with all of our stakeholders and help develop the launch of our wellness programs and partner agency, C.A.R.E. Family Services, LLC. This would include attending meetings with the CEO, volunteering at events and fundraisers, when possible, and actively pursuing relationships with local and global community organizations. This person is naturally extroverted, ambitious, organized, punctual, with authentic communication and strong sales experience. This is a volunteer position that will lead to a full-time position contingent on funding. Remote opportunity available for Washington state resident.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Financial Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the nonprofit wellness center.
    • Record all financial transactions, including donations, grants, and operational expenses.

    Budget Assistance:

    • Collaborate with the center's management to assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
    • Provide support in budget analysis and variance reporting.

    Grant Financial Management:

    • Work closely with the grant management team to ensure proper financial reporting for grants.
    • Assist in tracking grant expenses and ensuring compliance with grantor requirements.

    Financial Reporting:

    • Generate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for board meetings and grant reporting.

    Audit Support:

    • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
    • Prepare and organize financial documents for audit review.

    Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and nonprofit accounting standards.
    • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards that may impact the organization.

    Financial Planning:

    • Contribute to the development of financial strategies to support the long-term sustainability of the wellness center.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for financial decision-making.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Preparing documentation and reports for organizational development
    • Organizing program files, resources, and CRM
    • Implementing the Annual Work Plan and Executive calendar
    • Assisting in the planning and overseeing significant events
    • Acting as a liaison between the Board of Directors, Executive Team, Consortium, and Community Partners
    • Supervising theFinance Team and volunteers

    WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The Chief Financial Officer works remotely during operating hours with some scheduled time in office, meeting and event settings during quarter sessions for programs, with minimal bending, stooping, sitting, and kneeling. May require long periods of standing. Exposure to animals, plants, perfume/incense, and nuts. May require infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs. May require some local travel.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
    • Proficient in financial record-keeping and accounting software.
    • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and regulations is a plus.
    • Must submit to a background check and to privacy and confidentiality agreements.
