    Description

    Friendly Visitor/Errand Buddy Needed for Seniors East of the River

    Do you live 'East of the River?' There are seven seniors who do and they need you. These folks are legally blind and living near you as close as Glastonbury and Manchester all the way to Willington and Lebanon! Could you help with occasional reading and organizing, shopping, sorting mail and general friendship. They all have interesting and varied life experience that will make every visit exciting. If you can visit once a week or every other week for an hour or two that's all it takes to reduce their social isolation and give you a feel-good boost of endorphins!

    Requirements to be a great volunteer include:

    • a desire to help others;
    • a pleasant demeanor;
    • a good reading/speaking voice;
    • average reading skills;
    • organizational or planning abilities;
    • a good driving record;
    • a clear criminal history;
    • two references
    • access to a car with proof of insurance;
    • a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
