NAMI Central Oregon is recruiting two new board members to join our grassroots nonprofit serving Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with mental health challenges and their families through engagement, support, education and advocacy. We use lived experience to empower individuals, families and communities.

We seek candidates whose values align with ours:

    • Lived experience — personal, professional or family/loved one experience with mental health challenges, or a clear commitment to centering those voices.
    • Compassion — empathy and a person-centered approach in decision-making and community interactions.
    • Collaboration — teamwork, willingness to engage with community partners, volunteers and other board members.
    • Integrity — transparency, ethical leadership and respect for diverse perspectives.
    • Professional humility - foster unity through team building, discernment and equanimity.
    • Accountability — commitment to follow-through, good governance and stewardship of organizational resources.

Professionals (including clinicians) who are open about their own lived experience with mental health challenges (personal, family/loved one, community) are encouraged to apply.

    Priority skills needed

    • Fundraising specialist — experience developing and implementing local fundraising strategies, donor relations and campaign management.
    • Grant writer — experience researching, writing and securing grants from foundations, government and other funders.

    • Attend regular board meetings and participate in committee work.
    • Hands-on help with strategic planning, advocacy, fundraising and community outreach.
