    Description

Outcome School is a mission‑driven nonprofit empowering youth with tech, creativity, and leadership skills. We believe young people learn best by building real things, and our Game Development track helps students turn imagination into playable, portfolio‑ready games. To support this work, we’re seeking a passionate Game Developer (Volunteer) to help design curriculum, create course materials, and mentor students as they build their own game MVPs and final products.

    🎮 About the Role

As a Game Developer at Outcome School, you will shape the learning experience for aspiring young creators. You’ll design beginner‑friendly curriculum, build slides and assignments, and guide students through the process of creating their first playable games. You’ll also mentor students during MVP Week and Final Product Week, helping them refine their ideas and bring their projects to life.

This role is perfect for someone who loves teaching, game design, and empowering the next generation of creators.

    🧩 What You’ll Do

    • Design and develop curriculum for our Introduction to Game Development course (Unity, Unreal, Godot, or similar engines).
    • Create course materials, including slides, assignments, coding exercises, and project templates.
    • Mentor students as they build their game MVPs (Week 6) and final products (Week 12).
    • Provide feedback on gameplay, mechanics, design, and code structure.
    • Host live sessions or support instructors with demonstrations and walkthroughs.
    • Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure curriculum quality and consistency.
    • Support students during Demo Day, helping them present their games to stakeholders.
    • Contribute to our growing library of reusable game development resources.

    🕹️ What You Bring

    • Experience with a game engine (Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Roblox Studio, or similar).
    • Ability to break down complex concepts into simple, beginner‑friendly steps.
    • A passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting student creativity.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • A desire to use your talent to uplift youth and underserved communities.
    • (Bonus) Experience creating slides, curriculum, or technical documentation.

🌟 Why Volunteer With Outcome School

    • Make a meaningful impact on youth exploring tech and creativity.
    • Build leadership and teaching experience in a supportive environment.
    • Add curriculum design and mentorship to your professional portfolio.
    • Join a mission‑driven team that values innovation, community, and storytelling.
    • Help students create real, playable games they can showcase to future employers.
