    Description

    Following a declared emergency survivors may be displaced from their homes and in need of temporary shelter. In the case of hurricanes, these shelters open after the storm has passed and may operate for several weeks.

    The Shelter Service Worker is a temporary position assigned to work in a local American Red Cross shelter in Polk County, Florida. Volunteers support the day-to-day activities and provide client services within a shelter under the direction of a Shelter Supervisor. You may choose shifts of 4, 8 or 12 hours on consecutive days. Training is provided.
