    Description

    Volunteer Screening Team Member

    As a volunteer screening team member, you'll work with all new/incoming volunteers to determine what position(s) are a good fit for them based on their background, availability and interests. We take volunteers from ages 13+, and our region includes all of Hawaii, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa. You will be interviewing people from across the region. You're the first face they see in our organization, so being friendly and personable is a must.

    • Responsibilities:
      • Conduct volunteer screenings with prospective volunteers.
      • Verifies the Volunteer's ID (on a virtual meeting, or in-person)
      • Studies and learns available volunteer positions, so that you can make recommendations
      • Prepares for each screening interview (i.e. reads a candidates application questionnaire and the corresponding position description they are applying for).
      • Asks identifying questions, during the screening interview, appropriate to the responsibilities and qualifications for the volunteer position requested.
      • Provides prospective volunteers with information about the intake, referral and placement process.
      • Matches volunteers to positions for which they are best suited, based on skills, interest, availability and available options.
      • Updates Volunteer Connection, our online volunteer management system, with candidate information and makes referrals to departments of their choice

    This position is available state-wide in Hawaii, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and in American Samoa. It can be done virtually, or in-person at one of our offices.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be comfortable with working virtually via Microsoft Teams
    • Must be willing to use your own computer/phone for virtual work (computers/phones are available in our in-person offices)
    • Have reliable computer/internet access
    • Be willing to work with all types of people, ages, races, genders, etc.
    • Available to those 16+
    • Must have regularly scheduled, weekly availability. This role requires about 2-6 hours a week participation. We work with your schedule as to days/times.
