    Description

OLIVE TREE YOUTH CENTER - Planting Seeds of Greatness

    -Who We Are -

Olive Tree Youth Center is a before and after-school center offering enrichment programs for children ages 6 to 13 in low-income communities. Our vision is to create a world where all young people are supported and empowered to reach their full potential. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Olive Tree will offer various activities such as arts and crafts, games, community service, homework help, and its disciplined programs, Health Awareness, Etiquette, Creative Arts, and Financial Awareness. It will also provide a summer program.

It's pursuit is a reaction to the overwhelming lack of available, quality, and affordable after-school centers for underserved children. Many children cannot participate in enrichment programs after school because of low income and unreasonable hours of operation for working parents. With 1,607,533 students in New York waiting to get into an after-school program, increased investment in after-school programs is needed.

    • In 2020, 66% or 1,607,533 children would participate in an after-school if one were available
    • 12% or 340,053 of children are on their own during the hours after school in New York.
    • 32% of children in after-school are from low-income households

    Who You Are

You are professionals with experience helping a nonprofit grow strategically and financially. You have the time and mission-driven qualities to work on building BLAST’s programs. In its startup phase, you are eager to help BLAST bring these well-needed enrichment programs to underserved children and their families.

    What We Ask of You

OUR IMMEDIATE PRIORITIES ARE TO BUILD THE BOARD, DEVELOP A STRATEGIC PLAN AND SECURE FUNDING FOR PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT. THEREFORE, WHAT WILL YOU DO:

    • Participate in monthly Board meetings.
    • Donate or raise funds for the programs.
    • Provide oversight of the organizations mission, programming, administration, and finances.
    • Promote BLAST Youth Center within your personal and professional networks for awareness, fundraising, and potential partnerships.
    • Work collaboratively with other Board members on the different stages of BLAST Youth Center’s vision.

Being a member of Olive Tree’s Board of Directors provides a unique opportunity to help underserved children and their families have positive experiences and an excellent means to help parents in the market for employment or educational opportunities to support their family’s stability and financial security.

    GET INVOLVED!!!

If your vision or purpose aligns with Olive Tree's, become an ambassador to our mission. The time is now to make a difference in our children’s lives. We would love to hear from you. Please send us an email at jackie@olivetreeyouthcenter.org.

"It's amazing what we can do when we come together. So together, let’s build lives."
