Vet-to-Vet Hospice Volunteer

AccentCare Hospice – Orange County

Location: In person (patient homes or facilities across Orange County)

Time Commitment: Flexible (1–3 hrs/week)

Description:

AccentCare Hospice is seeking veteran volunteers to provide companionship and support to our hospice patients who have also served in the military. Through our Vet-to-Vet Program, veteran volunteers connect with patients in a way that only fellow service members can, sharing stories, offering understanding, and honoring their service at the end of life.

Your presence brings comfort, dignity, and connection to veterans who may feel most understood by someone who has walked a similar path.

Responsibilities:

• • Visit veteran patients for companionship and conversation
  • Participate in veteran recognition ceremonies (optional)
  • Provide emotional support through shared life experiences
  • Document visit notes (training provided)
  • Maintain boundaries, confidentiality, and safety guidelines

We’re Looking For:

U.S. military veterans of any branch who are compassionate, reliable, and comfortable spending time with patients. No medical experience necessary, just a willingness to listen and connect as a fellow veteran.

Training Provided:

Comprehensive hospice volunteer training, communication skills, and guidance on supporting patients and families.
