    Role Overview

    We are seeking a visionary and creative Director of Animation & Media Production to lead the artistic direction, development, and execution of animation and multimedia content across our digital and interactive projects, including our game initiative and promotional storytelling efforts.

    This volunteer leadership role will oversee animation pipelines, cinematic content, motion design, and multimedia production while ensuring that all visual storytelling aligns with our mission of accessibility, inclusivity, and educational impact. The Director will collaborate closely with game designers, developers, UX/UI designers, musicians, and marketing teams to produce compelling and meaningful visual experiences.

    Commitment: 15–20+ hours per week

    Key Responsibilities

    Creative Direction & Vision

    • Define and lead the animation and media production strategy for interactive and promotional projects.
    • Establish visual storytelling standards that reflect the organization’s artistic identity and mission.
    • Oversee the style, tone, and quality of animated and multimedia content.

    Animation & Production Oversight

    • Direct 2D/3D animation, motion graphics, cinematics, and multimedia content creation.
    • Guide storyboard development, character animation, visual sequences, and motion design workflows.
    • Ensure consistency across game animations, educational content, and marketing media.
    • Collaborate with developers to integrate animation assets effectively into Unity or digital platforms.

    Team Leadership & Collaboration

    • Mentor and manage animators, video editors, and multimedia volunteers.
    • Facilitate cross-department collaboration between design, development, and music teams.
    • Develop efficient production workflows, timelines, and quality control processes.

    Innovation & Accessibility

    • Incorporate accessible design considerations into animated and visual content.
    • Explore innovative animation techniques and tools to enhance digital storytelling.
    • Support multimedia initiatives that expand outreach and engagement within diverse communities.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in animation, motion graphics, media production, or creative direction (portfolio required).
    • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender, Maya, or similar animation software.
    • Strong storytelling ability through visual and motion design.
    • Experience managing creative teams or leading production workflows is preferred.
    • Understanding of integrating animation within game engines (Unity experience is a plus).
    • Strong organizational, leadership, and collaboration skills in a remote team setting.
    • Passion for arts, music, education, and mission-driven creative impact.
