    Description

In 2002 UPAVIM’s school was established to offer the children of La Esperanza and neighboring communities a nurturing, stimulating and inspiring atmosphere to learn and grow. An English Program was launched in 2008 which incorporated a half hour of English into the 5-hour school day. In 2013, the program expanded to include time for English immersion classes in the Montessori pre-school and in the UPAVIM school serving students in K-6. This program broadens the future education and employment opportunities of UPAVIM’s children.

The English teacher assistant will support the local English teacher with preparing and teaching English classes at the Elementary level. The assistant may be involved in other school activities such as supervising lunch/recess, lesson planning, material preparation and grading. While the school has a modified schedule because of Covid-19, the assistant may be asked to support other educational program areas such as the after-school program, the community library, and/or English tutoring to students. The goal for the position is to teach students how to express and understand concepts in English while also encouraging a passion for learning. This is an excellent opportunity to teach English abroad and take part in the transformation of this community.

    • Teaching experience preferred, but not required
