    Description

    Title: Member, Board of Directors

    Purpose: To determine policies, procedures, and regulations for the conduct of the agency,

    to raise funds to finance the organization and its programs, and to monitor organizational

    performance.

    Term: Three years

    Responsible To: President, Board of Directors

    Expectations of Individual Board Members:

    • Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs.
    • Follow the organization’s by- laws, policies, and board resolutions.
    • Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements.
    • Serve as active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary advancement of CASA mission.
    • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve CASA mission.
    • Give a meaningful personal financial donation.
    • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing and can influence public policy.
    • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.
    • Participate fully in one or more committees.
    • Maintain confidentiality of internal matters of the organization.

    Expectations of the Board as a Whole:

    • Determine the mission and purpose of the organization.
    • Select and evaluate the performance of the CEO/ Executive Director
    • Participating in strategic or organizational planning.
    • Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and fiscal management.
    • Assist in fundraising and resource development.
    • Approve and monitor CASA’s programs and services.
    • Assess its own performance as the governing body of CASA.
