Title: Member, Board of Directors
Purpose: To determine policies, procedures, and regulations for the conduct of the agency,
to raise funds to finance the organization and its programs, and to monitor organizational
performance.
Term: Three years
Responsible To: President, Board of Directors
Expectations of Individual Board Members:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs.
- Follow the organization’s by- laws, policies, and board resolutions.
- Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements.
- Serve as active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary advancement of CASA mission.
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve CASA mission.
- Give a meaningful personal financial donation.
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing and can influence public policy.
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.
- Participate fully in one or more committees.
- Maintain confidentiality of internal matters of the organization.
Expectations of the Board as a Whole:
- Determine the mission and purpose of the organization.
- Select and evaluate the performance of the CEO/ Executive Director
- Participating in strategic or organizational planning.
- Ensure strong fiduciary oversight and fiscal management.
- Assist in fundraising and resource development.
- Approve and monitor CASA’s programs and services.
- Assess its own performance as the governing body of CASA.
