    Web Application Developer

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Web developers will be responsible for helping with the technical design and development of new web applications for the organization, as well as maintenance and enhancements for existing web applications.

    Salary / Pay Rate: Volunteer

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Development using current web technologies possibly including but not limited to Ruby on Rails, PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, MySQL, WordPress, and Python.
    • Adherence to best practice software development methodologies such as object oriented, test driven, open source and Agile development.
    • Communication with technical leads on progress and new ideas for development.

    CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Position only requires digital interaction with the leadership team, however, volunteers are encouraged to volunteer at events occasionally and meet other individuals in the organization to get a better idea of what the organization works for and represents.

    CONTROLS OVER WORK: This position reports to the Executive Director.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience. Small responsibilities may be available for individuals currently in school or with less experience.
    • Preferred 3-5 years of web related development.
    • Experience with mobile app development a plus.
    • Ability to work virtually (phone, email).
    • Ability to provide own development hardware and software, not including web hosting resources which are provided by the organization.
    • Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
