    Description

Design & Digital Media Coordinator (Remote Volunteer) | Use Your Design Skills to Help Prevent Violence and Build Communities!

Design for Change. Shape the Story of Community Resilience.

SILO² (Social Intelligence Laboratory for Opportunities in Systems Innovations with Localized Outcomes) is a nonprofit tech and research organization working to reduce harm, prevent violence, and drive community resilience—particularly in regions where digital equity and design resources are hard to access. We are a team of violence prevention practitioners, clinicians, technologists, former public safety officials, doctors, veterans, and engineers who are dedicated to blending this rich mix of interdisciplinary experience to create something powerful.

We’re developing digital platforms, community education tools, and narrative-rich media experiences that empower under-resourced communities. We don’t just want to inform; we want to connect, amplify, and inspire. That’s where you come in.

We're looking for a mission-driven Design & Digital Media Coordinator to join our storytelling, communications, and platform teams. You’ll help shape the public face of SILO² through dynamic, accessible, and visually impactful media—designing for platforms that promote safety, knowledge access, and local innovation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop branded digital assets, infographics, and layouts for training materials, slide decks, social media, and websites.
    • Help evolve and steward the SILO² visual identity across platforms and campaigns.
    • Create templates and assets for use across interdisciplinary teams (technical, training, research).
    • Design graphics and short-form motion pieces for videos, webinars, and eLearning content.
    • Collaborate with Front-End Developers and UX designers to ensure cohesive visual storytelling across digital tools, and work to support our Advisor for Communications, Content Editor, and Social Media Coordinator.
    • Support media kits, summit materials, and publication-ready visuals in print and digital formats.

🎨 Tools & Platforms You Might Use:

    • Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects)
    • PowerPoint and Google Slides for high-impact presentations
    • Web layout/design tools for cross-team collaboration

    🧠 Ideal Experience:

    • Experience creating and iterating design systems and branding assets
    • Familiarity with accessibility principles (e.g., color contrast, legibility)
    • Comfort with visualizing data and abstract ideas for public and professional audiences
    • Bonus: Experience in mission-driven communications, eLearning, or public sector design

    🌍 Why Join Us?

    • Your designs will support crisis responders, violence prevention educators, and local changemakers.
    • You’ll contribute to tools that help communities tell their stories—and change their futures.
    • Collaborate with a remote, passionate team building platforms for real-world social impact.
    • Portfolio-building role with tangible, multidisciplinary outcomes.

    Commitment:

    • 2–4 hours per week (flexible)
    • 3-month minimum commitment preferred
    • Remote and asynchronous (we work via Discord, Google Workspace, Monday.com)
    • Occasional meetings with the Comms/Design Team based on your schedule

    Why Volunteer with SILO²?

At SILO², we believe access to safety, innovation, and storytelling shouldn’t depend on geography or budget. Our work connects siloed expertise with communities that need it most. Whether it’s designing violence prevention campaigns, training interfaces, or summit graphics, you’ll help make our vision visible—and actionable.

We support community-centered innovation with scalable, accessible tools. If you're passionate about graphic design, digital equity, and visual storytelling for good—this opportunity is for you.
