Consumer Advocacy and Information Resource (CAIR) is seeking a Volunteer Legal Representative & Advisor to support our mission of protecting and empowering consumers across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. This remote volunteer role is ideal for an attorney who wants to contribute their legal expertise to advancing consumer rights and justice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and represent consumers in matters of legal concern, such as defective or unsafe products, unfair contract terms, and service-related disputes.
- Review and draft legal documents, advocacy materials, and policy statements.
- Support legal research on topics such as defective products, financial services, housing, healthcare, and environmental law.
- Contribute to developing model legislation, legal awareness content, and public education materials.
- Advise CAIR’s board and management team on risk management, governance, and organizational policy matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Legal Education Certificate (LEC) required.
- Strong understanding of consumer protection, human rights, or administrative law.
- Licensed or eligible to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate remotely with a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment:
- Flexible schedule (approximately 3–5 hours per week)
- Minimum commitment of 3 months, with potential for extension
