The vision of West Tuality Habitat for Humanity is a community where everyone has a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. We believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities and is a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our work is focused on Western Washington County, Oregon.
We have a 12 minute video on YouTube of three local Habitat homeowners talking about how homeownership transformed their lives. The first two interviews in the video are in English. The last is in Spanish.
We need a native Spanish-speaking volunteer to translate the transcript of the first two speakers from English to Spanish. We already have the transcript in English. Then we need that volunteer to recite and record the Spanish transcript in a clear voice that we can use to edit and put over a second version of the video, so that this version of the video is entirely in Spanish.
We would prefer a native Spanish speaker who speaks in the accent of Mexico or any Central American country, but would welcome someone speaking iclear, well-enunciated, easy-to-understand Spanish from whatever country you are from.
You will need to be able to record yourself in an area of your home or wherever you will be volunteering with no background noise, using your own resources, and to send us a digital file of your recording, transferred to us via a Google Workspace.
We will interview candidates for this role via zoom or microsoft teams, so we can hear your voice. The interview will be in English and Spanish. If we get two volunteers, then each will be assigned to a different homeowner's transcript.
Involving volunteers in this role helps us involve more volunteers in our work, something we are committed to, and helps us direct more funds to purchasing materials and supporting new homeowners and vulnerable homeowners in need of critical home repairs.
Volunteers must follow our Code of Conduct, which is available on our web site.
We also strongly encourage you to follow West Tuality Habitat for Humanity on Facebook and Instagram and YouTube and to view our web site to learn more about us, and to view the original video on YouTube.
