    Description

Grant Reviewer / Grant Writing Mentor

    About Us

The Girls’ Jazz & Blues Society (TGJBS) is a nonprofit based in Sacramento, CA dedicated to empowering girls through jazz education. We provide summer music camps, year-round leadership development, and mental health workshops, building confidence, creativity, and community for young women from under-resourced backgrounds.

    Opportunity

We are applying for several high-profile national grants in the coming year, including multi-year and six-figure opportunities. To strengthen our applications, we are seeking an experienced grant reviewer/mentor to provide feedback on drafts and advise on strategy.

    The role:

    • Review 1-2 grant applications per month (approx. 5-10 pages each)

    • Provide constructive feedback on clarity, alignment, and competitiveness

    • Offer light mentoring on fundraising strategy for a growing youth arts nonprofit.

    • Flexible schedule - we'll let you know the deadlines in advance

    Ideal Volunteer

    • Experience with successful grant writing or reviewing (foundations, nonprofits, or philanthropy)

    • Background in youth development, arts, women’s empowerment, or education is a major plus!!

    • Passion for advancing opportunities for young women and fostering equity in music/arts

    Impact

Your expertise will directly help a small but growing nonprofit compete for major national funding - opening doors for more young women to access music, mentorship, and leadership development, who wouldn't otherwise be able to!
